About Us
George
George grew up in Iron River Michigan, playing sousaphone in the junior and high school bands. He started playing guitar at age 13, and got hooked on the rock bands of the 60’s; The Beach Boys, Led Zepplin, The Doors, and Cream. A garage band soon formed with friends, and The Outer Edge played in the U.P. and northern Wisconsin area for 11 years. A graduate of Michigan Tech, George left the area, retired and moved back in 2009. The Outer Edge reformed with original members, adding friends and family. In 2010, he and his wife Patsy created “Open Mic Night”, providing local musicians an opportunity to perform in a professional environment, in front of a family-friendly, appreciative audience. In its 10th year, Open Mic has become a popular musical community gathering at the historic Windsor Center in Iron River. Lovin' the winter! Me and my Honey South of the Border George the Blues Man
